How to use this calculator

  1. Peptide amount in vial — the total milligrams (mg) listed on the vial label.
  2. Bacteriostatic water added — how many milliliters (mL) of bacteriostatic water you plan to add to reconstitute the vial.
  3. Desired dose — the dose in milligrams (mg) you intend to measure out.
  4. Syringe size — the insulin syringe you're drawing with, so the calculator can convert the volume into units on that syringe's scale.

The calculator converts these into the vial's concentration (mcg per mL), the liquid volume that corresponds to your desired dose, how many syringe units that volume equals, and how many full doses the vial contains at that concentration.

Frequently asked questions

What is bacteriostatic water?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing a small amount of benzyl alcohol, commonly used to reconstitute lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides for research use.

Why does the water volume change the result?

Reconstitution volume determines concentration: the same amount of peptide dissolved in less water produces a stronger (more concentrated) solution, requiring less liquid volume to reach a given dose.

What if the units exceed my syringe's capacity?

The calculator will flag this. Either add more bacteriostatic water to dilute the solution further, or switch to a larger syringe.
